Hi everyone, I am interested in taking a beginner yoga class. I took one once at my gym but the experience was excruciating. The teacher was much too fast & quick for me. I felt like it was a "one-size-fits-all" yoga class.

I have knee problems & need help strengthening then.

I have done some research & I am interested in either hatha, vinyasa, or restorative.

Are there any yoga studios that are more on the intimate side (medium sized, not large) & have a gentle, calm instructor. Also, price is important. If it's too expensive, I'll just keep my gym membership.

Please Help. Thanks!

Check out Kay Westcott, the best yoga teacher in Houston (Houston Press 2008). Her teaching style is slower paced, focused on maintaining the forms, and not speeding through them. Her classes leave me feeling as if I've had a total body massage, my muscles are all stretched and relaxed, and I have an incredible sense of well-being. I also have much more balance and flexibility, as well as strength. Hatha yoga has helped me to avoid injury from other sports. She teaches at several studios. The best bargain is at Bally Fitness on Post Oak. For a $99 annual Bally membership, you can attend all her Saturday classes there.

I hate it when the fabulous offer is for "New Students Only."
