Houston has summer and summer, imo. The average lows are not really that low even in December and January, but the highs are nice then.

Hmmm... weird:

In June 101F warmest ever??? we already beat it by 5 degrees
In July 45F ??? I want to see it

You know, that was probably during the Ice Age which would still made us among the hottest place in July within that era .

A hurricane can usually be counted on to bring the temp down a little but only for a day or two.

I just don't get the hot and humid comments. My husband is in Virginia right now and their weather has been in the 90's with 100% humidity. Sure we've been in the 90's but the humidity has hovered between 35-45%. I think it's been lovely. I'm sure next month we'll see more of the 100% humidity (most online sources said July/Aug humidity was more in the 80's) but shoot, that's only for a couple months? That is totally worth it to have 9 months of gorgeous weather and not have to deal with winter.

Our dew points are much higher in the 70's and this makes air VERY STICKY. If we had 9 months of gorgeous weather it would be worth it, but we don't. Maybe two if we're lucky.

Someone who agrees with me. I find that going out for a walk when it is in the 70s here still works up a sweat because of the humidity.

I don't remember the temp being down after Ike. No power, a baby, 2 older kids, a husband, and a house full of relatives....it was hotter than Hades. Besides, if my only hope in a break in a weather pattern is a hurricane, then I'll gladly keep on sweating.

That's true...when I would walk the kids to school, I'd look and say, "oh how nice, it's 72 out." Once we got walking, my hair was frizzy and I was dripping sweat b/c of the humidity. Ick.
