well Riverstone is ETJ Sugar Land, it's not within the city limits until annexed.

Exactly. A lot of the newer neighborhoods are not yet annexed (Telfair being a major exception), and it might be a LONG time. New Territory has been waiting for how long? So no City of Sugar Land services until then. Unless one plans to stay in their home for 20+ years, this is why I think it's a little ridiculous when some buyers get all caught up in ETJ specifics when buying a home in/near Sugar Land.

Forgot to mention... I'm also in Fort Bend, outside of Sugar Land city limits as you are (so depend on the county, not city.) One time the neighbor's alarm went off for an unknown reason, a sheriff patrol showed up pretty quickly. The neighbor wasn't home so he came to my house too, to scope around... he asked questions and was quite thorough.
The one time we had a false alarm at our house, the sheriff patrol showed up quickly, again. Maybe it just depends on how close a patrol is to your home at the time of the alarm going off? But yes, I wish there was more staffing in Fort Bend. Though, the new Sheriff ran on the premise that we need to do something about this, so we'll see.

I (as you probably remember) once lived in Barrington Place. Police response times there were quick, but we were a "hot spot" for a bit (Asian business owners getting robbed in their driveways).

Just texted my friend who is still there and he says police in SL/Barrington Place is even quicker. And he believes this to be true around SL in general.
