My husband and I are from Connecticut and looking for a home around the Houston area. He works from home and I can work at any Memorial Hermann.

We started looking in the Woodlands but we would like our backyard to be private or have a golf course in the back. We are not having much luck finding this in the Woodlands.

Is Bay Oaks a good second option? We are looking for a custom home @ $600,000 to 800,000. Good schools and a safe area are a definite!

THANK YOU!!!

Check out Fall Creek. Here is an article from a few days ago:
Deal of the week: Fall Creek to see burst of development | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle (broken link)

This community is built around The Red Stone Golf Course. If you go to HAR.com and put in zip code 77396, you will find homes in FC. The new school will open in the Fall of 2008. Their is a new high school and middle school coming as well. The Serrano Creek section is gated and you might be able to find a home there for under 800K. (they go up to $2 million) The new Rose Creek section has BEAUTIFUL custom luxury homes and there might be a few of those that back to the golf course, but that section is not gated. They are mostly in the 700K's to 800K's

I hope this information is helpful. ~K~

In Sugar Land (77479) there's Sweetwater, Avalon, Travis Park, Williams Glen, and I think the new Riverstone is going to build a golf course community too. Memorial Hermann Sugar Land and Southwest are both close.

Bay Oaks is a great option. A lot of the houses are late 80's - early 90's vintage and need a few cosmetic updates, but I think you will find the overall interior trimwork and a few other things, to be superior to what you find in a lot of suburban areas. At least that was my impression.
