I had meningitis once, luckily the much less fatal viral type. Not a fun thing to experience at all.

I have been following the story. So, so, sad to learn that Nicolis Williams passed away!

I hope that they start requiring the vaccines for all students, not just the ones that live on campus.

I've been following it as well, since I have a son at A&M. It's terribly sad. My heart goes out to his family. I cannot imagine their pain.

I agree they should start requiring it for all students. My son began there the year before they started requiring it of kids living on campus, but I required it of him anyway. He wasn't happy, but I didn't care. I wasn't paying that tuition, until he got the shot. Our family doctor really was on him about it his senior year in high school. He assumed that my son would be staying in OK for school, and here it is required of all incoming freshmen.

I just read on the Chronicle website, that the father of Nico is planning to push legislatures to require all Texas university students be required to have this vaccination.

This is all bad. My heart goes out to the family. I too had meningitis (luckily only viral) and it strikes quickly and with little warning. I think requiring the vaccine is a prudent step.
