I thought this was stupid. Just let them do it. I, and others appreciate it.
However, I see them doing it all the time. That's just what they do here. Wouldn't that have stopped long ago if they actually could fine them? I have no clue about this. I was wondering if there's a city ordinance, state law etc. regarding this.
Any info is appreciated! Thank you.

P.S. There's no "no solicitation" sign anywhere.
HoustonInhabitant, so what were you selling?

That's a great sign elnina! I also think the hangings are not a good idea. First, 9 times out of 10 you already have a service that does what they are adversiting. So the mailing go straight to the trash (and hopefully to recycling for those that are recyclables). Second, one thing that bugs me is that when we're out of town (or any neighbor) you can definitely spot the house with all the hangins on the door. Anyone looking to break in can be attracted to these houses. I always try to have someone a friend or family member come in and check for mail while I go away.

I second that! That's a quick way for a robber to know if anyone is at home. You are left to pick the unwanted stuff. That's the same reason I don't subscribe to any newspaper deliveries. I ended up with other unrequested materials (other local papers, rolled up flyers, advertisement packets, etc.) thrown on my lawn.
