Hi,

I need a hair cut, and would like to know any place that does good ones for asian women's hair.

Thanks!

not to sound mean/stupid/insensitive or anything, but isn't "asian hair" pretty much the same as "caucasian hair" ? i didn't think there was anything special to cut an asian woman's hair....

Beauty Express on Bellaire (ask for Chu Le Nam, the owner), V-International (also on Bellaire, ask for Tracy), Bich Nga hair salon (Milam @ McGowan)

Have heard good things from friends about Beauty Express.

bluelion - Asian hair is different. I'm not really sure how to explain it. I know that there are certain techniques that don't work as well on Asian hair (typically 2 types - thick, straight, shiny or course & thick with a slight kink or wave).

I've found 3 people who've known how to cut my hair correctly - and they were all Asian stylists. The first time my favorite stylist ever cut my hair he said, "Man. This is weird. It's like cutting my own hair." I used him for 9 years going so far as to schedule my appts to coincide with business I had in Santa Barbara. I was living in San Diego at the time. I'm still on the hunt down here.

I think the American salons do a better job with highlighting, but overall the Vietnamese stylists do just as good a job with my hair as other places. Although the Vietnamese places may seem very utilitarian to someone more used to the typical inner loop hair salons (which I used to go to, but $65 hair cuts get old pretty quickly).
