Hello,

My husband and I tied the knot in Mexico and he is not a citizen and still in Mexico. We are trying to get a divorce uncontested and have one child together. What would be the procedures that I need to do to get that done?

Venue of law is Mexico so have your husband file for divorce in Mexico. Texas Law does not govern a Mexican contract.

As far as having one child together, you need to make a conjugal visit in Mexico while ovulating and hope you don't have twins (or more).

I'd add to that:
1. hire a mariachi band to play some Marvin Gaye in order to set the mood
2. do handstands after completion to let gravity help with fertilization.

The kid compounds the complexity. Then who would have custody? Sounds like you need to talk to a lawyer.

If you were married in Mexico, then the venue of law is Mexico. If, as you say, it is an amicable split, then that's the easy part. He's in Mexico, the venue of law is Mexico, go to Mexico and get divorced. I think they have a "quickie" procedure.

Is he a Mexican citizen and you a US citizen?
