We need this club.

Do you sit in the queue according to lane laws waiting on lights only to have some moron jet up on the shoulder and get ahead of you? Run 'em into the ditch.

Do you sit in your lane like everyone else and wait your turn only to have some moron run up into the right hand turn lane, go straight, and jet in front of you? Run 'em into the ditch.

Does the dude in the BMW 700 Series jet up beside everyone knowing damned well that his lane ends, keeps going beyond the merge end and buttinski in front of everyone? Run 'em into the ditch.

My experience is that runnin' 'em into the ditch doesn't hurt anything but their car, and maybe their feelings. I usually exacerbate the feeling by sticking my tongue out at 'em. I wish I still had my 1966, 4000 lb.+ Olds 98 from college. There'd be more dented and scratched luxury cars driving around Houston....and little POS's with the fart cans on the tailpipe.

You catch my drift.

Ronnie

Wow you hit on my 3 pet peeves. I want to join. #3 above happened to me yesterday (but it was a GMC truck), and I would have hit the clown if I didn't brake suddenly.

However in 2004 I got a special edition Mustang, so I don't allow #1 to happen anymore

When I'm unable to avoid intersections and lane merges like you describe, I've learned to watch my right door mirror for these types of people. I often pull my car half way into the right side lane to block them. When I lived inside Houston, I often had to drive the 610 loop which had numerous lane merges. It just became common practice to straddle the right lane marker. What's interesting is that each time I did it, inevitably someone behind me followed along. Clearly they were just waiting for a good example! The key is to manage the traffic around you, preventing other drivers from doing things that become a danger to you. Keep those folks behind you (until they can pass safely) and you'll be better for it.

What he said.

Road rage? Guilty.

Like you, I sometimes wish for a good ol Dodge Power Wagon truck. You can't hurt 'em, and you can't make 'em look any worse than they already do.

BMW700 dude, bite me. You did that to me today you jerk.

I think Houston must have the worst drivers in the country. I've come so close to several accidents since I moved here 4 months ago, it's unreal. What's with all the people making non-intersection U-turns all over the place anyways? I guess they just decide they need to turn around, and do it in the middle of the road. How about the folks that miss their turn, and then stop and back up on a busy road?? In my 11 years living in Dallas I never saw as many traffic violations as I have in 4 months in Houston.

BTW, every study done on traffic shows that the most efficient use of merge lanes is when people use them to their fullest. IOW, when people drive in a merge lane up to the end, that helps traffic flow the best. Merging before the merge lane ends actually slows down traffic.

Having said that, people that drive beyond the merge or cut over after the merge by crossing the white lines, I can only hope there is a special level of hell just for them.
