My family is relocating to Houston, Tx next month and have shortlisted Sugar Land after doing research on the neighbourhoods there.

I have a 20 month daughter and would be going to child care center for full day. I would appreciate if anyone can recommend a good child care center and as well a Pediatrician.

I hear Primerose is good. Also confused if which is better - Montessori or Child care center.

Thanks in advance!

I didn't care for Primrose when my children went there. Several times when I went to pick them up, I saw the teachers congregating in the corner to socialize while the children ran wild. Their backs were to the children!

I have heard great things about the The Education Station and also The Walden School. I don't have personal experience there, though.

As for pediatricians, Dr. Nguyen at Tykes to Teens is really good.

Hi Topaz,
Thanks for the info!

I will check out your recommendations on child care.

As for the pediatrician, I do hear a lot about Dr. Nguyen...will definitely meet him.

Look at the Sugar Land location of Texas Childrens' Pediatric Associates. Multiple pediatricians -- they back each other up and several times our pediatrician has called on one of his associates for a quick second opinion. They have their own lab too so can quickly turn around any tests so you'll usually get results during your visit. They have limited Saturday hours for anything urgent that can't wait until Monday. Close relationship with the TCH ER physicians who are situated at the nearby St. Luke's Sugar Land Hospital for after-hours issues. There is an affiliated TCH clinic of pediatric specialists and imaging services in the same building -- very handy too vs. going to TCH in the medical center itself.

Doesn't she have a brother (or is it husband) who is an ob/gyn? I've heard that Dr. Nguyen, the ob/gyn, is very well-liked as well.

Our two year old (along with at least one other poster here on C-D) goes to Dr. Arnold Kagan over in Pearland. It's a bit of a shlep from Sugar Land but a good doc is worth it. Kagan Pediatrics - Dr. Arnold Kagan, Dr. Ryan Kagan, pediatrician, Pearland, Texas. My wife is uber-picky about doctors and loves Kagan. His son also is part of the practice and is very good as well.

Our daughter goes to Dr. Yamauchi in the Methodist Professional Building, and I'd highly recommend him. He is very good with kids and very patient and thorough with us and all the questions we have as paranoid parents =)
