Hi all! I am so glad I found this site!

I am thinking of taking a job in New Caney but I don't know much about the area. I've lived in the Friendswood/Clear Lake area for 20 years. I have grown kids living there and will have a high school age daughter with me. I need an apartment that is convenient to A. Getting to work and B. visiting my older kids on weekends and C. with a good high school.

Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks!!

Kingwood is world class. The closest sections of Kingwood to New Canney iare Oakhurst and King Mill. Of the two, I prefer Oakhurst.

There are some nice apartments on the 494 loop just outside of Kingwood by NorthPark. Try to find a complex in Kingwood that gets you into the Kingwood Schools.

Default Thanks BearBranch!

I will definitely check out Kingwood. I almost bought a home there in 1979 when I first came to the Houston area. Ended up in Friendswood, which was (and is) great for raising kids.

Anyone else have ideas about places more midway to Clear Lake, or maybe closer in to the loop? Nice to have lots of options...

Kingwood is about 10 minutes from NC. Humble, 15-20. Atascocita or Huffman is 25-30.

Default I found a place

Thanks to all who replied to me. I got a realtor to help me find a nice townhouse for lease off Hamblen Road (not the flood prone ones!). Kingwood schools, good size for less than a similar size apartment. I looked at a small house for rent for $850 a month in Humble but it was more than I needed. I suggest using a realtor that knows the area to show you around, just to learn about the area before you lease.
I'm looking forward to moving in this weekend!
