AURORA, Ill., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Officials in an Illinois city said residents slow to take down their Christmas lights have only a little more than a week before they face possible fines.

The seasonal decoration ordinance in Aurora, which took effect in 2006, states that outdoor holiday decorations may not be up more than 60 days before or after their celebrated holiday, the Fox Valley Villages Sun reported Wednesday.

Makes since actually. According to the National Electrical Code, no temporary lighting like that is supposed to be up for more than 90 days. They really are not designed to be out for very long. they get brittle, and start to break down after a while.

My lights aren't up 60 days late - they're up 300 days early.

This screams "overstepping of government authority". If I lived in Aurora, I'd leave my lights up until March and then take the city to court.

While I agree with you, there are more worthy examples/ causes for you to spend your money and energy on.
