With our furnace running, we are waking up to parched sinuses (bedroom-hardwood floor) and we are concerned about static electricity and our electronics equipment stereo, TV and computer (media room - carpeted).
We've already spoken with our HVAC folks who suggest a whole house humidifier attached to our system, but we're wondering what lower cost options are available.
We are okay getting something for the bedroom and something else for the media room (2 separate units). We have minerally water and don't want this white residue all over our things.
Someone mentioned a steam unit?? What should we be looking for?
In the long run a whole house unit will pay for itself. Not only will your overall health be better (less medical bills) but you can also reduce your heating bill (with humidity in the air it will feel warmer). Also, by controlling the humidity in the house you can reduce your overall maintenance cost (the house doesn't go through such extremes that require constant repair).
