I am planning on buying some used central air conditioners off craigslist for my house any advice?

The most important thing is if the color complements your home. Issues such as brand, model number, and performance compatibility are completely irrelevant!

Just like buying a used car. Way too many variables and things that can be wrong or go wrong. They are usually taken out of service for a reason. At the very least, have a HVAC contractor go through it and give it a check up and tune up.

Maybe a used window unit if somebody had installed central air, But, a central air unit used? It was replaced for a reason usually. I don't think I have ever heard of anybody changing an outside unit for no reason. Caveat emptor.

Keep in mind that not all compressors are compatible with all evaporators, even if both units are from the same manufacturer.

Also, the only way I would remove a central A/C unit is if it was broken or otherwise not performing well. Do you really want an air conditioner that the original purchaser saw fit to replace?

You are kidding right? The color of the unit is more important then if it actually works?

Very interesting !

Truly the way to shop.

If it works and does not match the color scheme of the decor, throw that sucker back and get one that does. Everything is a slave to that ***** fashion.

I glad somebody still knows how to shop the olde fashioned way. Color is everything, all else is second.

Leave enough room in the trunk to get them all home. Shop until they match the curtains / carpets or couch.
