We have a warehouse that has been gutted. Some of the cinderblock walls have mold and we want to treat the mold but it has been very cold and there is no heat or air conditioning in the building yet. What is your recommendation for treating the mold during this time of the year? Does it have to be done under a controlled temperature environment? What would be the best way to treat? I was just thinking using a hudson sprayer and applying it to the affected areas with a 10% solution of bleach. We are framing the building to be sheetrocked, and want to make sure that there is no mold left behind the sheetrock. Would a vapor barrier be appropriate here as well?
We also have mold on the surface of the ceiling insulation. (aluminum cover) Should we wipe the aluminum with a bleach solution as well?
Rather than a home inspector find a specialist with a background in mold inspections like a Indoor Environmentalist, Mold Consultant or Industrial Hygienist. These professionals can do more than take a sample and give you some lab results they can help get you a protocol that will help you take care of your problem. The American Indoor Air Quality Council board awards two of the above mentioned professionals and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene does the other. I believe each has an online link you can click from their websites to find a professional.
The best way to remediate mold on a porus surface is with a catalitic enzyme. For more info go to www.premier-stl.com/our-services/mold-remediation
