The 2-10 warranty provided by the builder is about to expire for us. Can anyone comment on personal experience with America's Choice warranty company? We have not had the occasion to submit a claim in the two years we've been in our home but wonder if it might be a good idea to continue coverage with them or if anyone can suggest another plan..

I'm guessing you are referring to the 2yr part?
If you haven't had an issue in your first 2yrs- I'd say you've got a strong house. As far as continuing, I probably wouldn't worry about it. Most things that will occur can probably be handled by yourself with minimal expense. Other items such as storm damage, etc., would be handled through your H/O insurance.
The 10yr part is, of course, structural. And at this point we're generally talking- foundation. And as long as the grade around the house is not altered in anyway, you should be O.K. there also.
These home warranty companies were (and still are) a common practice for builders as a way to either eliminate or greatly reduce their own warranty department. The Building company paid a fee to the warranty company (based on location and total sq/ft of the home) to cover the house- that fee in-turn was of course added to the cost of the home.
