My clothes dryer vents of course and the immediate opening near the dryer was full of lent, despite the dryer being less than one year old (the vent was cleared when installed). How often should one have to clear the dryer vent? Also, my utility room has no walls that are outside walls. I am not sure where the vent is going and if its clogged up high, since it has to vent at the room or perhaps goes up and over a high ceiling garage adjacent to vent up high on that wall. Is there someone like a chimney sweep who can clean out the entire line which is much longer than vent lines in other homes I have owned? Of does the lent stay near the dryer connection typically? Any advice is appreciated.
You should clean the lint filter every time you run the dryer. You can buy a lint trap cleaner kit with different angled brushes and an attachment for your vacuum to try to clean it out yourself. Failing that, I would call a plumber. It may vent out the roof or wall.
I clean the lint trap every time I take a load out of the dryer. You should also wash the lint trap periodically. I have a long angled brush that I can stick down into the dryer to clean more lint out of it, but I can't reach the actual vent line easily. I have a friend who's a handyman and I have him do it.

A professional vent cleaning service can clean the vent and help you identify where it terminates. In our area, with your situation described, the vent is typically run to the roof and out. However I have seen other arrangements. If you Google search "Dryer Vent Cleaning" & "Dallas" you will find a number of vent cleaning services.
Lint from the dryer can be trapped at any point along the vent with changes in direction, if the vent sections were improperly attached along their length with screws piercing the vent, and improper vent termination cover, etc. Damp lint can also easily build up along the smooth walls of the vent pipe. Lint fires are more prevalent than many might think and it is recommended that your entire vent system be thoroughly cleaned at least once a year if not more due to heavier usage. You can also help prevent issues by regularly disconnecting your dryer vent connector hose, cleaning at the entry point of the vent, cleaning/replacing the vent hose, cleaning at the exit point of the dryer, and it is also a good idea to have the dryer itself opened at least once a year to clean its interior and connections.
I would expect that you are already cleaning the actual pull out lint trap typically on the top and/or front of the dryer after every load?
Dryer filter every time but the vent line from the wall to the outside I clean once a year. You can call a chimney sweep or get a line cleaning kit from Lowes/Home Dept for around $30-40. If it's an interior room like you mentioned, it likely vents straight up through the roof so if you are afraid of heights, just hire it done. It takes me about 20 minutes.
