Its easy in the bathrooms as the steamy hot humidity

, over the years, has pretty much done all the work for us...but the rest of the house is proving a bit more difficult.

Depends on the wallpaper.

Strippable will just pull right off, but I doubt that's what you have.

Modern paper can come off with wallpaper removal stuff - just apply it, wait, then scrape it off. Makes a mess so if you have carpeting be sure to protect it well.

Old time paper? Good luck. That stuff is really hard to get off.

I guess it depends on the wallpaper but most of the wallpaper in our "new" house came off fairly easily, I think it's matter of working smarter and not harder. I started with a garden sprayer and soaked it all down good and repeated every so often for a few hours. At the very least that would get the edges loose and I'd pull or scrape off what would come off easy. Repeat with the sprayer. It might of took me 5 or 6 hours to do a room but I only really worked for 1.

5 - 6 hours???

This stuff I bought at Lowes (cheaply!) took wallpaper off our kitchen in minutes. I stripped the whole kitchen in just over an hour and that was just as fast as I could work alone - including clearing the countertops, moving the fridge, and cleaning as I go.

A border shouldn't take any time at all - unless it's the old fashioned kind put up with real paste. For that you do need a steamer.

Get a steamer from Lowes or HD. It's the best $56 you'll ever spend. I use mine also for steaming my draperies after washing them.

Yea but 5 hours of that was spent sitting there drinking beer. I guess if you're in big rush to get it off or professional where time is factor then it might matter. You have to give the water time to do it's work, you're not working for 5 or 6 hours.

We had a similar problem got a steamer and all the other recommended products, they all helped but we still ended up with damage to the walls. If the walls were not prepared correctly prior to the wallpaper being applied it's inevitable. Just do a lot of repair work before you paint.
