Btw the big, bad scary computers have been in most appliances since the late '80s. Printed circuit boards are easy to replace. Keep on paying that warranty though. They're highly profitable on their end for a reason.
I will.

And it's obvious you just skipped over what Cattknap said which proves how extended warranties come in handy:
"We bought over $6,300 in appliances almost 5 years ago....$500 to insure everything tor 5 years hardly seems to be a waste. Our warranty has paid for about $3700 worth of replacement parts, replacement appliance and service calls."

And the appliances made in the 80's & 90's were more durable & reliable, nothing like the bs they're making today that don't last past 3 yrs but keep on floating down the sea of D'Nile, hope someday you won't have to eat your words.

That's an exception to the rule though. Most people never call for service with an extended warranty. That's why extended warranties are such money makers or else they would never offer them.

The extended warranties in the long run are going to be a loss to most people. It's simple math, they wouldn't offer them if they weren't making money on them. The only way you can make money is if people aren't collecting on them.

It's like winning the lottery - it does happen to someone, but don't count on doing it yourself. It also sounds like one or more here are in the business of selling extended warranties with all the doom and gloom and OMG computers! Microchips! Printed circuit cards with blinking lights that you have absolutely no way of figuring out what they do!

We own zero appliances made in the '80 and '90s except for one leftover fridge. The average age is actually 5 or 6 years old. They'll all be just fine, just like they have been until it's time for another kitchen or laundry room redo.

Even with the admittedly less robust appliances of today...
requiring $3700 worth of service on $6300 in purchases in less than five years is exceptional.
Something else is likely going on there.

In the rest of the world it's very rare that an extended warranty (or home service warranty)
will prove to be money well spent. But don't take my word for it:
