Anyone try Liquid Plumr, the one in a silver plastic bottle?
It seems like a new formula, according to the label on the bottle, it's safe on all pipes, old pipes (whatever that means) copper, pvc, and plastic.
Will it dislodge hair blocking the pipe?
Is it safe on all piples as advertised?
I was going to "snake" the tub myself rotating the snake by hand which I think is less violent or call a plummer to do it, but sometimes, when I see them use their "snake" with a spinning motor, I get a bit concerned with the snake spinning and banging against the steel pipe.

Drain cleaner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The active ingredient in Drano is Sodium hydroxide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (aka lye)

Mechanical (snake) + chemical is more effective than chemical alone.

You have three choices with keeping drains clear.

1. Professional snake.
2. Drano or Liquid Plumr or lye when it is clogged. This really powerful chemical eats away at hair, etc.
3. Preventive and periodic maintenance with an enzyme drain cleaner.
a. This means you have to plan ahead and do regular, scheduled maintenance.
b. There are no Liquid Plumr products in this category.
c. ZEP makes Zep Commercial Drain Care® Build Up Remover

"safe for all pipes" is a lie. Many sinks have chrome plated brass waste pipes underneath them. Brass is made from copper and zinc. Sodium hydroxide will "eat" the zinc out of the brass.

Good to know. I think I should do a regular preventive maintenance.
