For those of you who use a monitored security system, what is the monthly cost from the security company? Do you have a landline phone, or is it monitored some other way?

Thanks

It's 55 bucks because we upgraded to the system where the house can be run from your computer/phone and there are cameras and you can control the thermostat, blah blah blah.

Before that, 30 bucks a month.

The security system is monitored on a landline phone. We pay $15 a month.

Similisafe (which I have not installed, but a coworker has) is $15 to $25/ month.

A local alarm company would have charged me $29/ month plus ~$1200 to wire up the house. That didn't include monitioring by phone or anything like that.

What was the $29/month for if it wasn't for monitoring by phone?

I have never used a home security system yet. The house we moved into already had one installed, and the previous owners had it monitored by a security company. For some reason almost everyone in this area has monitored security, something I had never really considered before.

But just last week my backyard neighbor's home was broken into, so it got me thinking maybe I should get our system hooked up and monitored. I'm trying to figure out what is a reasonable price to pay.

Your article about false alarms had some good info to think about. Thanks.

$25 a month at our business. Same at home. We discontinued the one we had at our house, since it would go off randomly. Kept the one at the shop.
Where we live now, we have a dog.
