I was checking the private seller prices of used Accords and Civics on Kelly Blue Book and noticed that the prices for used Civics were more than for Accords of the same year and mileage. Why is that? I thought the Accords would be more expensive than the smaller Civic cars.

KBB isnt a very good guide to use. Edmunds.com is much more realistic.

Are you sure these are not VTEC Civics? With Prelude gone, and no other sports car, the price could be over that of an Accord DX. The difference between an Accord DX or EX could be around 10K as well. Six cylinder Accords used to be pricey, not sure since the gas hikes.

The new Civics have such tiny little hoods, look like even bigger death traps than they were before the new design.

Also depends on Trim Level.

The 2009 Accord LX starts around $20.8K. A loaded 2009 Civic SI runs mid $24k.

So there is already overlap in the pricing right out of the gate.
