The old tensioner on my Element was squeaking so I replaced it and put on a new belt. Now when I rev up the engine I can hear a slight whirring noise, like a turbo spooling up. I don't see anything that appears to be in a bind, and I don't see any damage to the belt. I have read where new belts need to 'break in' a bit and the noise will go away. Is there any truth to that?

I will say this tensioner is pretty tight (compared to my other vehicles), but the old one was too.

Sometimes happens when the serpentine belt is too tight. Do you see any adjustment bolt on the alternator?
