I absolutely adore the look 3rings » Linear Flame Scape by Spark Modern Fires

but have no idea of cost or any actual user experiences. Would like to put a 3' ventless in the kitchen sitting area; and perhaps the 3' direct vent for the bedroom. Any safety/performance/ service issues anyone's aware of?

I think they make great fireplaces and haven't heard anything bad about them. I was looking to install one myself until we realized that I basically already had the same fireplace (once the fake logs come out and crushed glass goes in). Good choice IMO.

too funny...I was just researching them this morning, myself. We are building for a couple who wanted a Jetmaster cantilever fireplace, but they aren't available in the US, so I had to research fireplaces that are that have a similar look. I like that you can make them anywhere from 2 to 8 feet wide, and I was hoping for a long, sleek look.

They are beautiful but pricey...the 3' models are in the $4K retail range, so my contractor is checking to see what his trade discount would be. I wanted 2, but will have to settle for one gorgeous sleek ribbon. and one standard. Ther are also tax credits available for the EcoSmart fireplaces which run on ethanol. It's another contemporary look, but doesn't race my motor like Spark Modern.
Saving my pennies for a splurge.....
