For those of you who helped convince me to paint the dark brown entry way the same green as the living room... I did it and I am happy with it.

Now what to do with these white doors. If I paint them green my girlfriend will kill me (shes not a fan). Would they look bad dark brown like the back splash? Any recommendations appreciated.

Pictures provided but the video really gives you a good feel.

My House

PS - the green walls are not as neon as they appear in the video. Its much more like a pale green called Valspar Monsoon Green. I also have many things on order so please dont suggest wall art ect... its coming.

The hallway looks much better. If the girlfriend won't let you paint the doors green, you could try the brown to see what it looks like. They'll be less likely to stand out if they are a color that already exists in the rooms. That's why the brown might work out well. Paint them and show us.

Honestly, I think the back door woud look good brown, but I don't think the entry door and walls will look good brown. There's already too much brown in the hallway. What about a compromise and paint the entry doors green and the back door brown?

I love the green in the foyer area and personally I also like the white doors there too. It lightens up the space and also the other door is white and it looks fine also. I would not change them if it were me. That particular shade of green is nice btw. The doors in the foyer would be "too much" if you painted them green, and besides, it does not need to be all mixey-matchey in the household. It is your personal space and however you ultimately decide you like it should be the bottom line. Since you asked though, I do like the white and you can add some white accessories if needed to pull it into the scheme. Just my opinion.....

I've recommended all along that you paint the door to match the trim. If that is too dark for your taste, then use a related color that harmonizes the foyer. As it is now, the door and its related trim is a focal point in the foyer, and it isn't working well. A white door and trim should not be shouting out--it should be part of a larger picture, a harmonious whole.

What you could do, that I think would be interesting, is to paint the trim around the door and sidelights the same color as the baseboards, and paint the door itself a gorgeous greeney blue, or another color your gf loves. Paint it well, as if you loved the door! A little sheen on the paint would be nice too. Now that would be a beautiful focal point for your foyer.

I think the front door and sidelights (not the wood trim) would look good painted black.

paint the doors the same color (or as close as can get) brown as the trim (molding). The white doors look horrible, they gotta go. LOL

I would soften the stark white by going with a "quieter" beige or cream color on the doors.
