i saw that - modano is a class player you can't help but respect - very touching moment

as a sharks fan it shows a bit about his approach to the game - when this guy has absolutely killed the sharks .... it's almost like he's guaranteed a goal or two everytime they face each other .... fitting that he broke the record for most points by an american born player in SJ and he received a nice ovation from the crowd there - not every player would get that much respect in the barn of an opponent that he has torched

I lived in MN during Modano's rookie year, saw him there. I can't believe that was over 21 years ago. That makes me feel older than old.

^^Me to I worked at a bar where the NORTH Stars came often and he came in with them. I feel old too.

Lots of pollen blew in my office as I watched.

I grew up in the same area, but never met him. I always thought he was great. I also lived in Minneapolis when the North Stars went to the Finals, and when they moved to Dallas. He's not my favorite player, that would be Stevie Y., but he is right up there at the top of my list of faves. Will miss him if he retires.

I'm also a Shark fan and I totally agree with you.
He killed us but couldn't help but respect him.

Don't know about you but I felt the same way about Luc Robitaille.
