Maybe I'm bias, but I think Caps vs. Penguins definately deserves to be up there. It's always been pretty good, but now that they are two of the best teams, along with the Caps having Ovechkin, it seems to be one of the top couple.

Maybe Ottawa is just that difficult to live with!

Growing up in the 70s, any combination of Bruins, Rangers, Flyers, Canadiens was an intense game.

Being a Pens fan I have to say the Pens-Flyers rivalry is the best. There games are very intense (especially since Crosby came to Pittsburgh) and tend to get very rough very quickly. Fans of both teams can be rabid, all in all it is the embodyment of the true spirit of hockey!

San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks appear to be building a good rivalry. Still has a way to go to match many of those mentioned in this thread but it is getting intense.

Being a Newyork*NJ guy- I have to go with the Ranger /Islander games- -intense - for the most part competitive- the nuts up in the bLUE seats at the Garden get very creative with the chants -

class be damned-
One of the worst (or best) was " Potvin beats his wife!, Potvin beats his wife!!- -
"
I was an Islander fan many years ago, when Bossy,Trots., Billy Smith ,and crew were there ,being steered by Al Arbur- but years of now living in Jersey and going to the Rock( not to mention the state of affairs in Islander managemant) I slowly turned in a Devil fan- Brodeur, Parise, and that crew of thiers gives Hockey a good name and they are a fun team to root for***

The Devil / Ranger thing is OK- but it lacks the intensity of a good Ranger/Islander game or even a Ranger/ Philly game

Sadly, there are none. The rivalries when I was growing up in the Patrick Division were the pynnacle of sport. Now teams barely even play each other enough to develope a beef, coupled with the fact that players in general no longer play for the sweater. Most of these guys work out together in the off season in between riding on each others yatch's.

Hockey is great right now in terms of skill level and pace. But the rivalries are a thing of the past.
