Coyotes want to stay in AZ. They're in talks with the city of Mesa currently. They are also looking at other locations. I can't see why they don't go back to their original tax payer site in Glendale and work out their problems where they don't need to have a new stadium built. Probably would save some $$$ in the long run.
I see Atlanta as a possibility given there's sizable pre-existing fan interest, a cooperative city government and deep pocketed investors willing to make it happen. The Thrashers situation was fumbled and should never have happened.

I don't know.. the Flames left, Thrashers left.. it would be a third attempt at NHL in Atlanta. But, Bettman has been committed to hockey in the South, so who knows.
I saw Mahomes was recently advocating for a move to KC, which could be interesting

It wasn't Atlanta's fault as far as team support goes, much like St Louis losing their NFL team twice. Chalk it up to bureaucrats and greed. Atlanta makes great sense due to its demographics with a north side arena anchored in a 180K household income market growing in double digits and filling in the geographic gap between current teams in Raleigh-Durham, Nashville, Tampa-St Pete and Miami-Ft Lauderdale. Missouri already has the St Louis Blues and nowhere near the financial enticements of Atlanta, or potential future growth seen in Georgia.
For now, the Coyotes stay in college. Bettman's ego may be too big to admit that the Coyotes are a failed franchise in Phoenix, and he can't save them. Glendale doesn't want them back. Tempe has given their opinion. Friends in the area seem fed up with the team's failing to honor their promises. The team has had plenty of time to develop a following and have failed to do so. I've attended a few Red Wings' games in Phoenix and Wings' fans always seem to outnumber Coyote fans.
If the team is moved, I suspect it will have to be to a western conference geographic area. The league has gotten the two conference somewhat balanced and probably don't want more shifting of existing teams.
Perhaps the Yotes should just build themselves a smaller stadium. It will be cheaper and be easier to fill it. Or just cry back to Glendale and play in Gila River Arena. That is really the only option.
Or move to Quebec City. They will have guaranteed sell outs. There is already an arena. They can change name from Yotes to Wolverines, one canine to another. And they will be welcome.
Dont move to Houston. It is too hot there for hockey. If season is during the summers, then I can imagine people jumping into the ice cold arena, but in winter it is not cold enough. You cannot grow the game anywhere there is no snow. It just does not make sense.

Oh, doesn't seem to be an issue in Vegas, LA, Dallas, Tampa, Miami, Carolina, etc. U.S. population is moving south and west.
