Caps, Sharks & Blues have shed their "collapse in playoffs" coat at least for this year. Bruce Boudreau, down 2-0 with about 25 minutes left, still has a chance to shed his, but Rinne looks like a stone wall so far. Imagine how more wide open the West would get: Sharks or Preds in the conference finals if this holds up?!?!? Sharks, Preds, Blues & Stars winning more playoff games than the Blackhawks & Kings.....combined?!?!?!? Who predicted that in October??

Yeah it's pretty crazy. I guess this is the year that all the playoff chokers come through. It is just crazy not seeing the Kings or Hawks in the 2nd round, considering they have won 5 of the last 6 Cups.
Got a little nervous in the third when the Lightning started dominating the puck completely. Glad to see them pull through---did not want a third double OT game.
Islanders looked great tonight. Might be a short series. My original prediction was that the Lightning don't make it past the 2nd round.
Well, we can formally say goodbye to Bruce Boudreau as coach of the Ducks. As with Hichcock in St. Louis who definitely wasn't surviving had the Blues lost game 7, Boudreau will now likely be put on the chopping block as this is yet another disappointing and early exit. Maybe making it to the WCF's last year saves him for another year (but remember the Jets & Flames, the 2 opponents they beat last year were 2 of the worst teams in the West this year), but I think he can put his house up for sale and send his resume out.
I guess early in the season means the first three-fourths of it. I remember when the Wings did that every year, or so it seemed. I think they can go all the way, but I don't have any idea if they will. The Flyers will get them into playoff mode, so we'll see.
I'll pick
Caps over Flyers in 6
Wings over Bolts in 6
Pens over Rangers in 6
Panthers over Isles in 7
Ducks over Preds in 7
Blues over Hawks in 7
Sharks over Kings in 6
Stars over the Wild in 5
5-3 in my predictions. Probably my best record ever.
2nd round:
Isles over Lightning in 6 (not so sure about this one)
Blues over Stars in 6 or 7
Sharks over Predators in 6
Caps over Pens in 6
Depends... Is Stamkos expected to return anytime soon? He could be the game changer in this series.
Maybe late next series but definitely not this one.
