I am in Texas now, so I keep up with the Predators from afar. The local group did buy the Predators, the sale was approved by the BOG, and the funds transferred to Leipold, I think it was last week. The new owners are trying to redo the lease at the Sommet Center to keep the Preds in Nashville for a long time!

Cool! There had been a brief period though where things got rough again right? Or did I dream that??
Hartford would be great choice. There is plenty of people up in the Northeast corridor to watch those games
They should expand overseas into Europe. Maybe Moscow, stockholm, or even Czech republic somewhere
I agree with you 50%. I feel a conneticut team could definetly build rivalies with Boston, New york, and New Jersey, but overseas? While they would most definetly have fan support, it would be a huge burden on the teams having to travel there.
Maybe the stanley cup could be played between the champion of North America and Europe. doubt that will happen, but just a thought to your post
I'd wanna see Winnipeg and Hartford at the top of the list. Their fans didn't deserve to lose their teams. Quebec would have to show a better commitment to a team. Would love to see an American team in the PNW, but the Canucks would probably fight it. Kansas City and Milwaukee seem like reasonable choices.
I'd like to see the NHL grant two more franchises, so they can get to 32 teams like the NFL and break everyone into 4-team divisions. Scheduling would become a lot more balanced. But whatever happens, I just hope the league stays away from any more warm-weather cities. I'm sorry, but it's just so wrong to have ice hockey in the middle of a desert in Phoenix!

We definitely need more teams in the West! If I were to make a wish list that had NO basis is what's likely or not, I'd say 2 of these 4 with no particular order here:
1)Portland or Seattle
2)SLC
3) 'Pegg
4) KC
With 2 of these we get to that 32 team league and we can move either Detroit or Nashville to the East where they belong. Probably Nashville would be the best move because of the historical significance of Detroit in the West.
Again...this makes no account of those very important items such as arena, past history, current demonstrated support, etc.

I'd love to see the Wings in East, so they'd play the Leafs and Bruins more often, like back in the day. But then they'd get split up from Chicago.
So I'm all for moving Detroit and Chicago to the East. New teams in the West ... I'm all for it!

It has been a rough summer and fall period! The local owner group did go through a spell in trying to get concessions from the city or they threatened to back away from the sale. I think Nashville got a new mayor and they got things worked out, so the sale was finalized. They are still trying to rework the lease from what I understand.
