I know it's a few days old news, but I've been in mourning. I'm sad to see him go. His career was amazing! Some examples:

I am happy to see Lidstrom retire. Not because I want to see him go but because he knows his time has come and has chosen to accept it and not be in denial like Brett Favre or any athlete that refuses to believe he can no longer compete at the same level anymore.

Nick Lidstrom has cemented his place in history in Detroit. Howe, Yzerman and Lidstrom. A true legend.

Thank you for 20 years, Nick and helping return the Red Wings to glory.
