Been a while since I posted on the hockey threads.

Caps backdoored into the playoffs, played great the last 2 games; however, the injury to Neuvirth put huge pressure on Braden Holtby who has had moments of brilliance but he is still new to the big stage. So he could be like Halak a couple of years ago when the Habs beat the Caps or he could collapse like a folding chair.

Many experts pick the Bruins to beat the Caps but it will not be easy for them. Boston better not take the Caps lightly.

If the Penguins win the Stanley Cup, then nothing would please me more than going through the Flyers in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, the Devils in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals, and the Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals. That means I want the Penguins, Rangers, Devils and Capitals to win in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

We'll see if Mike Smith bombs, proving that the regular season is almost meaningless. But if Phoenix can't win ONE round THIS year, their playoff futility will be amazing.

There's nothing I want to see more than see the Red Wings beat the Pens like they should have in 2009, and did in 2008.

Round 1 Predictions
East
NYR v. OTT- OTT has given NYR a challenge in each meeting this season. I cannot see NYR losing their series, but it will go down to the wire. NYR in 7.

Bos v. WSH- WSH gave Bos trouble without Backstrom, who is now back. I see upset all over this series. WSH in 7.

FLA v. NJ- NJ is the better team and heading into the playoffs as a hotter team than FLA. NJ in 5.

Pit v. Philly- Pit is the favorite, which I understand because they are slightly better than Philly. However, I am going with Philly in this epic match up which is one hell of a way to kick off the playoffs. Philly in 7.

West
Van v. LA- I like Van in this series. LA has the talent to upset Van, but they have been up and down throughout the season. Van in 6.

STL v. SJ- I am going SJ in this series. Talent wise these teams are even. I am giving the edge to the overall experience SJ has in the playoffs. SJ in 7.

PHX v. Chi- Both teams are coming in hot, but I have to go with my hometown Hawks. Smith will really have to stand on his head to "upset" the Hawks and I don't see that happening. Chi in 6.

NSH v. Det- I am going with Nashville to win this series. The Preds have been tough to play against with their defensive system and excellent goalie the past few years. Now they have the talent to really compete and great special teams. NSH in 6.

The moral of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals: Don't blow your load to win the third game, or you'll have nothing left to win the fourth.

Great job turtling up after two periods, Bylsma! I mean, a two-goal lead after two periods is insurmountable, right? Never mind that your offense is the strength of your team; let's just give them a rest, huh? Is it April 11, or is it March 18 all over again? This is the kind of stupid **** that ended your winning streak, and just might put you behind the eight ball for the rest of the series, unless you're lucky! Dumbass!
