According to numerous various sources all over the internet, the Stanley Cup finals between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers produced the highest ratings for a Stanley Cup finals. More specifically it was game 6 that reached a peak of 8.28 million viewers, the highest since the 1974 Boston Bruins vs Philadelphia Flyers match that garnered 8.29 million viewers.

Not bad, perhaps the NHL needs big market teams to be good or else no one will care to watch it. This year it happened, Chicago vs Philadelphia. Chicago is the 3rd largest TV market and Philly is 4th. No wonder.
