I did a lot of walking about 3 weeks ago. When I got home, I noticed some discomfort and itching on my lower left leg in the back just above the ankle. I looked in the mirror and noticed the area was bright red and when I felt it, it was warm to the touch. I felt around it and felt a tiny bump/lump... not sure what that was.
Well, today again I did a bunch of walking and the same thing happened. Discomfort, itching, bright red, warm, and a little tender. No numbness or swelling in the area or in the ankle, leg, or foot.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be??? I'm kind of scared since this never happened to me before. My docs office is closed until tomorrow afternoon so I can't even call him to ask about it.
Was there evidence of an insect bite the first time it happened?
Was the red spot in the same exact spot as the last time?
Do you live in deer tick country?
Were you wearing hiking boots or pants that could've caused a contact dermatitis in that spot?
No bug bites... I was walking in Manhattan both times. I don't think it's a contact dermatitis... it feels "different" and the area is warm/tender to the touch. I had some pain in my foot also, but I don't know if that was from all the walking or if that had to do with the redness. I also still have that little bump/lump thing.
It's been about four hours since I've been home and the warmness has subsided but the redness hasn't and parts of it are still a bit tender.
I just hope this isn't something serious. I'm really worried.
It's weird but it may not be serious.
Leave a message for your Doc's office to make an appointment ASAP just for your sanity.
Have a cocktail and call it a night.
Nothing acute or fatal but definitely worthy of a visit to the doc for input.
Will do. I'm so exhausted, I don't even need a cocktail. LOL!
I'll be calling the doc in the AM and will make an appointment. I'm sure it's nothing.... I just thought of something else. I have a heel spur on my left heel.... I wonder if that has something to do with it?
Thanks for your advice!
