Anyone else on this pill?
After an endoscopy, I just started taking this 600mg a day/ divided dose.
Today I feel loopy, tired, sorta like I got the flu. My eyes are not working right either.
Does this wear off as time goes by? It seems like a big dose for esophagitis when I never had symptoms of GERD except for what the EGD shows. Ulcerated esophagus and hiatal hernia letting the acid come up. Doc says I need this or a Proton Pump Inhibitor which also made me sick with diarrhea and nausea. Anyone???
I take 40MG Omeprazole twice a day and 150MG Zantac once a day.No side effects.
I will be on this the rest of my life.Diet is the Main thing, eat my Large meal middle of the day.Another thing for me is NO Caffien,Alcohol and Carbonated drinks including Carbonated Water.
If it runs into Cancer most don't last over a couple years because it is so aggressive.

Cut your dose into quarters and take it with food 4 times a day or talk to your doctor about giving you a lower dose to start with until your body adjusts to the medication. If that does not work then the medication is not right for you and something else needs to be found. What are the side effects listed for this medication? Are your symptoms in line with those side effects? Check with your doctor though before you actually change anything or stop using the medication.
I'm on a proton pump inhibitor, which is far more effective than something like Zantac.
If I eat too late before going to bed I can still get gastirc reflux, but there is no acid being brought up.
I generally eat early in the evening in order to avoid this.
I have found this drug to be wonderful.
One word of caution- I have enjoyed the occasional raw oyster in the past.
I had one for the first time after going on PPIs last year.
Gastric acid has a role in sterilizing food. Let's just say that the effects of eating that oyster lasted for some time afterwards!
