I have had it for many years, although my only joint that is affected is my left elbow. I can't extend it completely and my extension becomes less as the years go by. The joint is slightly swollen and I can't carry much weight in my left hand without causing pain.
Has anyone with a similar problem tried physical therapy? It sure would be nice to regain full extension and use of my elbow, but I suspect that the situation is irreversable.
No, I don't, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, most of my joints are affected. But since exercising, much better. I used to work in a Rheumatologist office for a good while, and they did a study on Psoriatic Arthritis. Wonderful study.
I don't know if yours is also included with a rash, but alot of our study patients did. The drug they were using in the study worked wonders.
In reply to Jennifer Lynn, I am 21 years old and currently in the midst of a psoriatic arthritis flare-up. My left elbow is acting identical to yours, and I cannot fully extend it. It's not necessarily inflammed, however, you can feel the tendon easily and it's painful if I'm not careful moving it. This has been happening for a few months, and now my right knee is grotesquely inflammed and painful.

Enbrel is a great drug for psoriatic arthritis, you may want to talk to your doctor about it if your condition is severe enough.

Thank you so much for your input! I visited the doctor this past Thursday, and was prescribed prednisone. I'm a little apprehensive about taking it, but we'll see how it all goes.
