Maui.

Oahu is a parking lot.

You'll enjoy going up to Haleakala.

Why? You can't legally drive over about 35 on most roads. And the road to Hana if you go over about 15 on a lot of it you are going to end up in a river or the sea.

Go to SoCal to rent a fancy car to impress who?

Fast and furious driving isn't island style. There's nowhere to go and no reason to get there very quickly.

Try Germany and the Autobahn if you must tear about in cars. The fastest posted speed limit in the state is 55.

Do you suppose they put a governor on the cars? I think they do with the Harleys that are rented.

go to vegas and run an exotic on a track.

you do know that most (if not all) exotic rentals on the street have rev and speed limit governors right? exotic rentals in waikiki is basically about cruising around and trying to impress other idiot toursts.

Actually, the fastest posted speed limit in the state is 60 mph...
New Saddle Road speed limit signs go up today | West Hawaii Today

However, folks routinely exceed it...

For open highway driving, Oʻahu and Maui are the wrong islands to visit.

Late at night, full moon, brand new Integra GSR with the moon roof open, (obviously a while back), H3 may be cursed, but it's fun to drive...

Especially letting off the throttle through the tunnel... But I NEVER went over 55

And, when I didn't live on Maui, and didn't have the first Lotus Elise in the state, I never drove it out to Hana in the middle of the night. I did, however, send a number of tourists to Budget Rent a Car, not the one at the airport in Kahului, but to the airport past Kaanapali, where they could rent the VERY SAME CAR!!!!

I suspect I'll spend a little time in purgatory for that one, but it was worth it

I wouldn't rent an exotic over here, no place to go, and no time to get there. If you know how to drive, rent a Caterham 620R in San Francisco, and drive the Great Highway down to Big Sur. I'm trying to talk myself out of buying a Catherham kit and putting it together over here. 310 HP in 1500 pounds is just nuts.

Whatever you do, be careful. Lots of horsepower in a light car on a road you're not familiar with packed with tourists is not a good combination.
