Adamstown or Ephrata? (Bethlehem, Lancaster: rental, buy, price)

Hey y'all. I'm originally from Bethlehem, Pa. moved to upstate SC. Love it here but I need better docs and medical care for my many conditions Lupus being just one. My children and grands also want "memaw" back home. My hubby and I are looking to be nearer to Lancaster but not directly in town. We've been to the outlets and surrounding areas many times and fell in love with the area. We would like a quieter area but no senior only developments. I have many grands and love to play outside with them and I don't want to disturb others. My hubby needs to be closer to highways for work purposes. We plan to rent for a year and then buy but I need a good starting point. Which area would most suit our needs. We want to be "away" but not to far away and we are far from being the "Vanderbuilts" so we're also looking for a reasonably priced area. So, Adamstown or Ephrata? is the question because we've at least narrowed it down to a few places we liked, however, we aren't opposed to other surrounding areas. Trying to get a ranch, but for renting cape wouldn't be out of the question. We're looking for 2-3 br. in the rental price of no more than $1300.00 a month. HELP! anybody? Thank you so much in advance for helping. It's been a rough few years and we really need the help/advice.
