My wife & I are looking to retire & relocate to York from Buffalo. We’re looking for some information on where to live in York. We are looking for Towne House or Ranch in the $100-140 range. We know that the city is out as a choice, looks pretty depressed. Can anyone recommend areas in the York? MDW likes the mall and wants to be within 10-15minutes of food shopping, libraries ect.
What are property taxes like on a $100,000 home in York? Here in Buffalo $100,000 would cost you almost $5-6000 in taxes.

The eastern area (east of 83) would be your best bet for location. Close to the Galleria Mall, WalMart, Target, Kohl's, several grocery stores and grocery outlets and a quick 20 minute ride to Lancaster's Park City Mall (IMO nicer stores) There are some townhouses in your price range off of Route 30/Mt. Zion Road area and Route 30/North Hills area. Also a good selection of townhouses along Mt. Rose/East Prospect and then more in the Dallastown area off of Camp Betty Washington Road. Any of these would be in the Central, Suburban or Dallastown school districts, which would help with resale. If you're looking for a ranch house, you might want to try Haines Acres (Kingston Road area) or Hayshire (a little further north on 30, but still on the east side).

If you'd like a referral to a realtor, I'd be happy to recommend a couple of them. Private message me if interested.

Property taxes will most likely be in the $3-4K range on a $100K home.
