Can anyone tell me about dry shampoo? I've heard so much about this lately and am interested in some personal feedback. Pros/Cons? Brands?

thanks!

Dry shampoos have been around for years and years....maybe they're better now than they used to be. Yes...they will absorb oil, but that's about it. Nothing beats a real hairwashing!

I've tried several. The Tre Semme version sucks. The Batiste spray works better but it's a small bottle and I need to do it twice. The best commercial product I tried was the hair powder made by Aveda - worked really well, but the bottle was tiny. But the best, cheapest, easiest, most effective dry shampoo I've yet found is... baby powder. Only problem is then you smell like baby powder, LOL. I plan to go to the baby powder aisle and see if I can find a scent I prefer.

I paid $32 for a can of "organic" dry shampoo ~~ what a waste of money. I did it as directed ~~ OMG ~~ I looked like I had a Powered wig on. NO was I was going outside looking like that.

It's no subsitute for wet washing. I'll prolly pitch it.

I have the spray version of the Oscar Blandi (for non blondes) and I love it. It's magical.

Tried the the Tresseme one and it was awful! I agree with nan5623 who said it looked like a powdered wig! I thought maybe I sprayed it too close to my hair but when I tried it again, still the same results. Not to mention it puts a powdery film on the floor.

It's supposed to make it look all powdery and white when you spray it on. Then you work it into the roots of your hair with your fingers (this essential step is missing from the Tre Semme instructions btw) and let it sit for a few minutes and then brush it out. At that point the powder should no longer be visible.

Like tilly, I use baby powder but not on my hair really. What I do is sprinkle some into my palms, rub my palms together and then rub them through my roots only. I've experiemented with this over the years and initially found that cornstarch baby powder works much better on my hair than the talc. About a year ago I found a constrarch baby powder at Target that is cucumber scented and now that is my favorite.

I've tried a few, and the cheapest one from the supermarket works the best! I use it only when desperate though, as another poster said - nothing beats a real hair washing!

I just got a coupon in the mail for a free full size SUAVE Dry Shampoo product. I'll let you know how I like it. At least we know in advance it won't be as expensive as some of the other stuff on the market. I could see where it would come in real handy....especially since I live in such a humid climate. When I was younger, I would use baby powder. It works fine on light colored hair and using it sparingly.
