Has anyone hired someone to do this in Greenville? I'll need it done soon. Need to have a tv mounted above the fireplace with the wires run behind the wall to the component system beside the fireplace. Has anyone done this? Any idea how much it would cost? Thanks.

Best Buy Charges $350 and takes about a week to get out to do it.

Given the cost of buying a flat screen TV, and the importance of mounting it correctly, $350 seems very worth it to me!

My kids had it done and then had to take it and move it to a different spot as their fireplace made the TV too hot. Don't know why they had this problem and others don't.

Default TV above fireplace

We used Guardian Technologies, but depending on where you buy the TV sometimes you can get a quote from the inhouse contractors. Geek Squad and Firedog with Best Buy.

Is it a gas fireplace or do you actually have a chimney? Gas fireplaces are much easier because you don't have to worry about the brickwork.

Your Neck?

Does it hurt our neck to look up at that angle to watch TV for any length of time? Do you have to lie down in a Lazy Boy? That's kept me from the mounting over the fireplace.

They had a ventless gas fireplace, but it didn't have a glass door on it or was not constructed properly or something. Not only could they not keep their TV mounted above it, but when they started using it, my stepson got sick, and my daughter-in-law started having migraines every day. They had all the gas removed, etc. and have had numerous things done to the house to get the toxins out, but he went back recently and spent only two nights in the house and got sick again. Doesn't affect his wife or the kids.

They just had this house custom-built about a year ago, and now they're looking to move out and move into a rental while they try to figure it out. Very sad.

Photogal --- it could be mold causing sickness. My parents had a similar but not so severe reaction. They had their house cleaned by a professional outfit that deals in mold and they and the house are now fine.
