We just moved here from Maryland last week, and I enrolled my son who is a junior in the school according to attendance area, which is Carolina Academy. He is not happy there at all, and neither am I. In 3 out of the 4 classes that he is in they are covering material that he learned while in the 8th grade. So I've been attempting to transfer him to another school in the district. I'm running into problems mainly with schools being filled to capacity...but they are still telling me to try...come in and fill out a Special Permissions form which I will do at all of them. My question is: What are they looking for as far as granting permission? Grades, reason(s) for not liking the current school? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Laura
Is he in any AP or IB classes? If not, he should speak to his guidance counselor about them. You have to remember that South Carolina has one of the worst school performance grades in the country.
Well, the good thing is that you have plenty of high schools to choose from. I have 4 or 5 high schools within 15 minutes of my house, and more within another 10-15.
