Hughes Investments usually builds what they propose. It is currently surface parking for the apartments he built a few years ago. The key is DRB which knows Hughes very well.

I think a few taller buildings in downtown will add some more character to the area. Will offer great views for the residents!

The image looks to be about 32-ish floors. Any idea if this is office, residential, combo??? I thought we had gotten past the days where new buildings had to have saucers on top (Looking at you Greenville Health).

It kind of reminds me of the new 28-story "skyscraper" in downtown Durham (One City Center) that opened this year, with a mix of residential, office and retail.

SGA was tasked with providing the schematic architectural design for a 33-story mixed-use high rise, located at a strategic intersection in Greenville, SC. The structure features a grocery store, parking garage, and apartments of varying sizes and price points. The uppermost roof serves as a heli-port, while a lower roof includes a rooftop pool. The building, when built, will be the tallest building in South Carolina.

This was posted on Urban Planet. Some discussion there. Someone posted office, residential, grocery store (of course) doesn't every mixed use development want a grocery?

Not getting too excited about this. No formal announcements. I thought every architectural firm mocks up these kind of illustrations? Doesn't mean it will look like this or actually be built.

Great info, G-Man! Strategic intersection? Like an intersection where there USED to be a big, brown box of a building?

It’s slated for the intersection of Falls Park Drive and River Street. The site is currently a parking lot.
