East Main Street in Spartanburg could be undergoing a streetscape project from Church Street to Liberty Street. Diagonal parking would be replaced by parallel parking, which may add additional parking spaces. Tree islands would be added to separate parallel parking spaces. The meandering travel lanes would be straightened.

East Main Street streetscape improvements are underway. It should be completed within four to eight weeks.

The streetscape looks very nice so far. I think the paving needs to be completed and the lines stripes to consider the project complete.

Downtown merchants are organizing a "Meet Your New Main Street" event Saturday.
