I never took it unless I had to go downtown for some odd reason, like jury duty. Hated it. It was a pain to drive to the station, find and pay for parking and then get to the station with the possibility of taking the Metromover on top of the Metrorail.
I can't see that Greenville has the need for this, and honestly, it is quite an ugly eyesore as you drive through DT Miami and points headed south to where the last station is. It's brought it's share of crime as well.
Fares began at $1 back then are now $2.25 o/w and parking is $4.50 a day-so for those using the parking lots (it took me 20-25 minutes without traffic to get to the closet station parking garage) That's $9 a day for a roundtrip and parking. Is it cheaper than driving to downtown AND pay for parking there, yes, there it is. But here...I don't see the overall need, and for it would not be something I would ever use.
IMHO, I can see certain cities, like NYC, Boston etc. where where many residents don't own a car, parking is a major issue and the masses have depended on this system for many years. But Greenville, I can't see the logical side of something as big, and expensive as this being a good idea, privately funded, or not. What about eminent domain for those landowners who do not want to sell? My ex's Mother was worried way back when about this when there was talk about putting the Metrorail in the street behind where she lived. Thankfully, that didn't happen, but for many others, it did.
Just look at the ridership for Green Link! What a waste! Buses usually run MT! Greenville will not support rapid Transit as a whole. Perhaps this should be used in the Woodruff Road area to alleviate traffic congestion? JMO.
