Hi, I need a venue for my wedding in march and I'm having trouble finding a cheap but suitable alternative.
I need space for the ceremony as well as reception for 100 people, AND, somewhere that allows alcohol.
I don't want to spend more than $1,000 for rental including all the fees.
Any ideas?
Www.aplace2wed.com came up on an Internet search. I don't know anything about it but it looks like you can customize the package to suit your needs or budget.
The City of Greer has a nice facility in their city hall. They purpose built the property to be used as a rental. I think you have to hire a cop for the duration of the event, especially if you have alcohol. They also have the Cannon Center for rent as well. They also have a gazebo on the property for the ceremony and an amphitheater area as well. I don't know if $1000 will cover everything though.
The Davenport is really lovely. A $1000 should definitely cover you if you rent on a Friday or Sunday. Saturdays will always be the most expensive most anywhere.
Village Studios and Gallery in the Pendleton Arts District used to have a fairly economical event space for rent.
You may also want to consider renting a restaurant on an off night. They will throw in the rental for free if you hit the food/drink minimums.
Good luck!
