Just one week after a cyclist was reportedly attacked along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, Greenville City Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies in the same vicinity.
...
And when we get a couple days into the investigation and we see it is a threat to the public or a crime trending we will release it."
I wonder if these 3 establish a threat pattern yet? I'd like to have known about these types of cases, once it is reasonably certain that the report wasn't made up by the victim.
People need to realize that downtown isn't a bubble and crime can and will occur there every so often. It's impossible to make any area especially a public one with lots of visitors 100% safe. Hopefully the criminal(s) involved with this though get caught. Just my two cents.
You also have to consider that the robberies have occurred at night, I believe all were after 10pm. You have to be aware of your surroundings and not just go out thinking you are 100% safe at anytime.

Agreed - you have to be aware of your surroundings. The parking garage incident was before 10 PM - a time that falls well within a routine trip return from dinner or a Peace Center event.
Hearing about these incidents is always a bummer, but awareness is the best weapon against them, whether the awareness is innate or the result of a news report or both.

A body found along the Swamp Rabbit Trail has been deemed a victim of homicide, and authorities are seeking the public's help.
On Monday, August 12th, employees with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were working in a wooded area near West Blue Ridge Drive and an access point to the Swamp Rabbit Trail when they discovered a badly decomposed body and subsquently contacted the Sheriff’s Office. A death investigation began, and following an autopsy this morning, it was learned that the cause of death was due to a gunshot wound. The Sheriff’s Office is now working this case as an active homicide investigation.
The body was located in a wooded area off of West Blue Ridge Drive near the access point of the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Items located at the incident location have shown that the victim had been living in the woods for some time and may have possibly chosen this area due to its close proximity to West Blue Ridge Drive and the surrounding metropolitan area.
This one was outside city limits, and I agree - they did do a good job in reporting this and asking for the public's help. I'd rather know about this than have them keep it quiet.
