We are moving to Simpsonville soon, and I was wondering why the county website shows bus delays daily?? Are there construction issues?

Usually at the beginning of the school year there are delays. Some drivers that are hired at the beginning of the year don't work out. It takes a while for new drivers to learn their routes. New schools sometimes have problems at the beginning of the year. It should get much more efficient in a few weeks.

three issues.

traffic, traffic and the fact that schools attendence districts are not geographically centered around the school.

Be VERY ATTENTIVE to what schools your kids will GO TO when you look at houses, NOT which school you are closest to.

Aside from the usual busing issues to attain racial balances, when a school here reaches capacity, houses built in the area are assigned to a different school. I work with a guy who lives in S'ville and his daughter rides the bus 70 minutes each way because his address is assigned to Riverside Middle in Greer.

The school board has yet to come up with a way to manage this and likely will not because they like getting elected.
