I've lived here nearly 4 years and have never been.

Has anyone gone in the recent past? Any issues/suggestions for parking? What's the best parade spot for a family? What's the ideal time to get to Main Street to view the parade?

I've been the last 3 years; the smallest crowds have been on the West End - near the beginning of the parade route. The best lighting will be at the judge's stand at the intersection of Court Street, but that will be a very crowded area. Other than that, anywhere along the route should give a good view.

People camp out or at least set up chairs hours beforehand. I have had a hard time seeing once or twice when we have gone. We were always just north or south of Washington St.

If you have children and/or wish to watch the parade from a chair, you will need to arrive very early to secure a position close to the street. I have witnessed at least four rows of seats (bring your own chairs) within the diagonal parking spaces and multiple layers of people standing behind them on the sidewalks.

It must be that worth while to go with that many people. It sounds nice.
