My family wants to go see the lights next Saturday, December 17. I totally realize it is the weekend before Christmas and will be crowded. If we arrive at 4 pm, anyone have an estimate of how long before we get in?

I'm honestly not sure how long the wait will be that day, but I've read probably a couple hours at the least. However, I went last night and there was essentially zero wait to get in. So the tip is to try to go during the week if at all possible.

I wish we could go in the middle of the week. But unfortunately my family is visiting on the weekend. Hopefully if we arrive by 4 pm, we will be close to the gates when it opens at 6.

As has been mentioned, the weekdays are the way to go. The first year I lived here, we went on a Saturday, arrived early, and still were in line for nearly 3 hours. Never again.
If you have the cash, I'd recommend going for a hayride through the lights instead. It's pre-scheduled, with no wait(and is much more fun than being in the car). Bring blankets, though. It gets cold.

We went a couple years ago, and I think it wound up being about 2 hours.
